This full-day seminar will explore different approaches to designing and delivering first class participatory arts and cultural activities for older people.

By the end of the seminar participants will:

  • Understand the essential components of developing and delivering successful creative projects with older people.
  • Have been introduced to a range of exemplary creative ageing projects nationally and internationally.
  • Explored the challenges of delivering high-quality creative ageing projects.
  • Have an increased awareness of the social and personal outcomes creative ageing activities can achieve and how these might be measured.

Target Audience

This course is aimed at artists, theatre facilitators, project managers, activities coordinators and older people service providers. It’s for anyone looking to find new ways of working with older people, and those with some experience who are looking for practical tips and a refreshed approach.

Approach

This full-day course will use a mix of formal presentations, practical exercises and facilitated discussion.

Trainer: Mandy Redvers-Rowe

Mandy’s career as a lecturer, writer and performer both regionally and nationally spans 25 years. For five years she acted as Artistic Director of North West Disability Arts Forum (now DADA) and spent many years as a lecturer in Community Theatre practice as both Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts and at Liverpool Hope University. Her written work has been produced by the Royal Exchange (Manchester), BBC Radio, Graeae, Paines Plough and BBC Television. Mandy has led Collective Encounters’ Creative Ageing programme since 2012.
