Demystifying evaluation: Practical tips for measuring the social impact of participatory activities

Thursday 1st March 2018, 12.30pm – 4.00pm, Liverpool

This half-day seminar will outline the theory and practicalities of measuring the social impact of participatory activities on individuals and communities.

By the end of the seminar, participants will:

  • Understand what to evaluate and why
  • Understand different terminology used in evaluation
  • Be able to apply different approaches to evaluation in different contexts
  • Understand how to plan an evaluation framework

Target Audience

This course is aimed at artists, arts administrators; arts project managers and voluntary sector managers. It’s for anyone new to evaluation, or those with some experience of evaluation who are looking for more practical tips and a refreshed approach.

Approach

This half-day course is an informal seminar with plenty of opportunity for questions, discussion and learning from fellow-participants’ experiences.

Trainer

Annette Burghes is Collective Encounters’ Executive Director. Annette studied Arts Management at London Metropolitan University and Law at the College of Law. Annette has worked in the arts and voluntary sector for twenty years, and recently co-authored The Social Impact of the Arts in Liverpool on behalf of Liverpool City Council.
