Summer Arts School
Working in partnership with Liverpool Children’s Services, we will be delivering another Summer Arts School this August, with support from Arts Award.
This Summer, young people from Liverpool will spend a week undertaking fun, creative activities including writing their own songs and spoken word poetry. They’ll visit various cultural venues across the city including the Everyman Theatre and Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, and have the opportunity to undertake their Bronze Arts Award in the process.
Last year saw Collective Encounters deliver the pilot Summer Arts College programme for looked after young people aged 14 – 19 in Liverpool, in partnership with TiPP and Unitas. The young people spent three weeks engaging in creative activities including theatre workshops, film-making and screen printing and completed their Bronze Arts Award throughout August 2014.
As part of their three weeks together, they created this beautiful stop-motion film with artist Anna White, accompanied by a song which they wrote together with musician Ben Turner.
The young people involved thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we hope to do another Summer Arts College in 2015.
