Creative Ageing: Excellence in Participatory Arts with Older People

Course Content
This full day workshop combines presentations from tutors, peer-action-learning and practical exercises, which will introduce participants to:
- a broad range of Creative Ageing practice, illustrated through national and international case studies
- the policy/strategic context to the work
- the social impact and benefits of the work
- aspects of good practice in Creative Ageing.
The workshop will explore the:
- practical and ethical challenges of working with older adults
- the creative potential of this work.
It will offer practical ideas and exercises developed over fifteen years of Collective Encounters’ work in the field.
Who is it aimed at?
This training day is particularly aimed at artists working in community contexts who are interested to work with older people; artists with some experience of working in these settings looking to hone and extend their practice, people currently working with older adults who are interested in introducing the arts into their practice.

Course Leader
Mandy Redvers-Rowe has led Collective Encounters’ Creative Ageing programme since 2012. Her career as a lecturer, writer and performer both regionally and nationally spans 25 years. For five years she acted as Artistic Director of North West Disability Arts Forum (now DADA) and spent many years as a lecturer in Community Theatre practice at both Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts and Liverpool Hope University. Her written work has been produced by the Royal Exchange (Manchester), BBC Radio, Graeae, Paines Plough and BBC Television.
