In November 2018 the United Nations reported austerity in the UK had inflicted “great misery” on its people concluding the UK was in breach of international human rights agreements relating to women, children, disabled people and economic and social rights.

The Grenfell disaster bought the impact of austerity and economic inequality to the front pages of newspapers but the community are still fighting for justice.

In the developed world the UK ranks 7 out of 30 of the most unequal counties, with the top 1/5th of the population have 40% of the country’s wealth and the bottom 1/5th of the population have 1%.

The UK is the only country in Europe who locks up migrants without telling them when they will be released.
