We’re thrilled to announce that the Black Maternal Health Project has won the Liverpool John Moores University Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Public Engagement!
Over the last year we have worked in collaboration with LJMU and the International Slavery Museum to host a series of creative workshops with the aim to understand the links between Black maternal health in the past and present. The project addresses inequality in maternal care and birth outcomes. Together with participants from the local community, the team established what insights could inform guidance for future practice.
This award is a testament to the hard work and skills of the entire project team – Michelle Richards & Natalie Denny from the Collective Encounters team, National Museums Liverpool curators Alex Scott and Makiya Davis-Bramble, Dr Adrea Livesay, and the LJMU midwifery team.
This work is funded by the British Academy and LJMU.
