Voices on the Streets is a collection of original poems and conversations about Liverpool’s places, people, culture and history. These pieces were created by local community groups as responses to research from the University of Liverpool’s English Department into topics such as migration, poetry, environment and identity.
Join us for a group walk along the guided sound journey followed by a creative writing and arts-based workshop to create and critique stories about Liverpool, helping us better understand the diverse histories and cultures of the city.

What’s On Offer

Please join us for a “Sound Journey” round Liverpool followed by a workshop. Numbers are limited so  please reserve a place.

1230-2PM Sound Journey
A ‘sound journey’ around Liverpool city centre. This is a self-guided audio tour lasting around 90 minutes, if completed in full. The tour is accessed through the free ‘Echoes’ app on a smart phone.

2-4 PM Workshop
A creative workshop led by Collective Encounters theatre company at the Everyman Theatre on Hope Street. Participants will have the chance to engage with, and create, different stories from in and around the city.
Although the “Voices on the Streets” Sound Journey is self-guided and you are welcome to do it in your own time, we recommend you begin at the Everyman theatre at 1230 where we will be able to offer technical support if you need it.
Personal headphones are also recommended.

Echoes App and “Voices on the Streets” tour can be downloaded here.

We recommend that you bring headphones for the best experience and use WiFi to download the app and the audio tour before you begin in order to save data.

Walking route is step free based completely on paved walkways.

If you want to find out more about the project, or have any problems with downloading or accessing the sound journey, please visit our project webpages
This project was facilitated by Collective Encounters and produced in partnership with the University of Liverpool.
