Storytelling Workshop for Children and Young Adults

As part of Writing on the Wall‘s Black History Month programme, author Lola Jaye is visiting Liverpool to do a reading from her new book. Lola Jaye grew up in foster care and uses her own experience as part of her storytelling. She says writing ‘can be especially powerful for children in care as throughout their lives, they may not always be in a safe place physically, and writing gives them a space where they can make their own rules’.

Collective Encounters artists Michelle Richards and Tessa Buddle are running a storytelling workshop, which will include the opportunity to create characters and stories, meet the author, and get feedback on your writing. It is open to any young people aged 11 upwards, and would be of particular interest and benefit to looked-after or care-experienced young people.
