Area of practice:

In this event we will explore the intersection of participatory arts and activism; we will experiment with creative strategies to affect change with and in the communities we collaborate with.

Open Playgrounds are a space to test new ideas and new approaches to participatory practice. Don’t come empty handed, please make sure to bring with you an idea for an activity or game to try out with peers.

Format of event:

Open Playgrounds are events specifically designed to support participatory theatre makers develop their workshop practices. Open Playgrounds are facilitated by a member of the Collective Encounters’ team and on occasions there will be contributions from a guest practitioner.

These sessions will go beyond workshop activities to explore how participatory theatre makers are delivering the fundamentals of applied and participatory theatre forms. They are also an opportunity to connect with peers.

Open Playgrounds are not training events but facilitated forums in which practice can be tested and shared.
