Stepping Into Drama consisted of weekly 2-hour sessions over 10 weeks from May 2018 with Stepping Stones, Southport. Stepping Stones is a social group for adults in Sefton with experience of disabilities or mental health issues, who meet weekly to take part in various activities. The group is led by its members and all outings and activities are decided by them.
The project was developed after the Stepping Stones group requested some drama workshops in order to build skills and confidence. Collective Encounters have previously worked in Sefton with adults experiencing mental health issues, as well as those with experience of homelessness and/or addiction.
The programme culminated in a performance, devised by the group, called Freedom performed to an invited audience of friends, peer, sector workers and decision makers.
