The North West Sound Archive and Collective Encounters, with More Music and Brighter Sound, present…

Got a song to sing? Beats to drop? A cause to rant about?! Then get involved with Demo Tapes – a 6-week project for 13 – 18 yr-olds who want to remix, sample and be inspired by protest songs of the past to make music about the issues of today.

You will work with leading musicians, lyricists & electronic music experts to create your own tracks & lyrics in response to protest songs from the North West Sound Archive – whether you’re into hip hop, grime, folk, dub or anything in between!

Workshops will happen in person, with a robust COVID risk assessment in place.

At the end of the project you will have the chance to perform your work in Manchester and Liverpool alongside young people from Brighter Sound (Manchester) and More Music (Morecambe).

No computer, music software or instrumental skill necessary. You may use this course to gain a nationally accredited Bronze Arts Award.
